Our cPanel servers now come with an important security update, as we continue to prioritize secure hosting environments for our clients. By default, we have disabled directory indexing on all cPanel servers.
This change brings several benefits, including enhanced security against unauthorized access and privacy protection for your website's content.
Disabling directory indexing prevents unauthorized users from accessing your site's file structure, which can make it more difficult for attackers to exploit your website. Furthermore, it ensures that visitors can only access the web pages you have specifically published, giving your website a more professional appearance.
We have taken this proactive step to disable directory indexing as part of our commitment to providing a secure hosting environment for our clients. We recommend careful consideration before enabling it on a per-directory basis, as it may pose potential security implications. Nonetheless, clients who require directory indexing for specific use cases can still enable it within their cPanel account.
